If you carry more than two rewards cards, the honest answer to "which one should I use?" is: it depends. It depends on the merchant, on which bonus categories are live this quarter, on how much of a capped category you have already burned through, on what you personally think a point is worth, and on whether you are still chasing a sign-up bonus.
PerkPro exists because nobody wants to do that math at the register. You tell it what is in your wallet, and it tells you which card to tap.
What goes into a recommendation
PerkPro only ever ranks the cards you actually own. For a given purchase it works through:
- The merchant's category — mapped from a merchant database so "Trader Joe's" resolves to groceries, not "other".
- Each card's earn rate for that category, including effective dates so rotating quarterly categories are only counted while they are live.
- Remaining cap room — a 5% category that you have already maxed out drops back to the base rate, and PerkPro splits the reward when a purchase straddles the cap.
- Your own point valuations, so transferable points and cashback are compared on the same scale.
- Sign-up bonus progress, because spend that finishes a welcome offer can be worth far more than a category multiplier.
- Annual fees, amortised into a net-value view so a premium card has to earn its keep.
The tools around it
- Merchant optimizer — search a store and see your wallet ranked by what you would actually earn there.
- Category guides — browse the best cards for groceries, dining, travel, gas and more, drawn from the full card directory.
- Card directory — every card with verified issuer detail: welcome offer, earn structure, benefits and credits, APR and foreign transaction fee, plus the date the details were checked and a link to the issuer's own page.
- Tracker — cap progress bars and spending by category, so you can see when a bonus category is about to run out.
- Sign-up bonus tracker — required spend, deadline and how close you are.
- PerkPro AI — ask questions about your own wallet in plain language and get card recommendations you can act on.
You can try it before signing up
Guest mode means you can add cards, log purchases and run the optimizer without creating an account. Everything you build as a guest carries over the moment you sign up, so nothing is wasted.
A note on trust
PerkPro provides informational estimates, not financial advice, and card terms change — always confirm the details with the issuer before you apply. We may earn a commission on card application links, but that never influences which of your own cards we tell you to use: the purchase recommendation engine has no idea whether a card pays us anything.
